What do you love about nursing?
I love working with Fastaff because of my recruiter Jackie Layton. She is amazing; a true partner, supportive and always exemplifies professionalism. Fastaff also is a transparent company, so I always know I’m getting the best package possible.
What I truly love about nursing is the opportunity to make a real difference in my patient’s lives. To have the honor and privilege of caring for another person; to have that trust placed in me, is humbling and amazing.
What makes travel nursing rewarding for you?
Travel nursing is rewarding financially while offering variety and the opportunity to experience a myriad of facilities, each of which offers learning and growth opportunities to expand upon one’s professional practice.
Describe a time where you felt more valuable/respected because of the experience and knowledge you gained from your Fastaff assignment.
Because of my experience I have been able to provide guidance and teaching to staff in smaller facilities. I wholeheartedly believe in collaborative nursing practice and mentoring, and traveling has afforded me the ability to both learn and teach.
What has been your most challenging Fastaff assignment (a difficult case, surgery, patient illness, etc.) and how did you feel that impacted your worth as a nurse afterwards?
We have many difficult cases in critical care. This past year has been the most horrific and most rewarding of my 20 year career. The way healthcare workers have banded together as a team, as family....this I’ve seen from Massachusetts to California, and it has made us strong, provided comfort and kept us sane.I am so proud of all of us for continuing to provide excellent patient-centered care in unprecedented times.
How have you accomplished some of your personal and professional goals by traveling with Fastaff (i.e. family life, financial freedom, more personal freedom, etc.)?
While traveling I have obtained my BSN (summa cum laude), my CCRN and am working on my MSN in leadership.Travel nursing has only encouraged me to continue along my educational path, education and experience offer both opportunity and improvement on the provision of best patient care practices.
